Day 7 of my Coconut Oil and Apple Cider Vinegar Diet

Good morning blog friends and fam, I woke up this morning feeling great, and so glad that I got time to rest yesterday. I love this coconut oil and apple cider vinegar diet. I stretched my arms and my joints felt stronger, if that makes any sense... I just feel stronger overall. My muscles feel firmer and my joints feel more fluid. Not to mention, I like what I see when I look in the mirror.

I have a ton of energy and I haven't even eaten breakfast yet nor drank my vinegar and oil with my water and tea. My children agree that I'm losing weight. I think today, I might actually Exercise. But the truth is, with all the housework I've been doing, I haven't been exercising the "traditional" way. But I am feeling great. My mind is clear and I am able to focus on several things at once. I didn't realize how "toxic" my body was until I did a diet that was detoxifying in nature.

Today is our 9th wedding anniversary, so I'm glad that I have been dieting. No "big plans" yet. I used to be in so much joint pain that I could not wash the tub. But I was able to get down and wash the tub with vigor at just Day 3 of my diet. Praise God! This diet idea was truly a great Christmas present from the Lord. Using things that I keep in my house anyway to radically transform my life. An inexpensive and yet highly effective diet with measurable and reliable results. I will have to report my weight later on today... (crossing my fingers) after I am able to get on a scale. Even if I haven't lost weight, the simple fact that I feel so energetic and vital, I know I now have the power to lose the weight within me. Like children can't sit still, I have the zeal in my body to get up and move, which I attribute to this new diet.

To reiterate from past blogs, this is the diet that I prescribed on the first day (and have been sticking with):

1/2 cup of organic coconut oil per day
3 tablespoons of organic apple cider vinegar per day
Some exercise
Anything else I decide to eat.

For your reading pleasure, I found a book about apple cider vinegar which may interest you:

Apple Cider Vinegar: Miracle Health System by Paul C. Bragg

I hope you have a wonderful day, and Happy New Year's Eve!!! Join me on this diet this year for a simple and effective New Year's resolution!!! =D

Day 6 of my Coconut Oil and Apple Cider Vinegar Diet

Good morning fellow bloggers, today is Day 6 of my coconut oil and apple cider vinegar diet, and I feel like have shed a few pounds off the thighs. Unfortunately, my poor sleeping habits from the weekend have caught up with me. I am at home with a bellyache :(. I also ate some cajun rice and vanilla ice cream last night at about 1 a.m. (irresponsible lol). I wouldn't recommend it. But I drank my apple cider vinegar and water and am getting ready (highly anticipating it too) to drink my chai tea and coconut oil. It's hard to stop doing housework at bedtime when there's so much leftover energy! :)

I am still amazed at how slim I feel this morning though. I also don't feel the sluggish "give-up" feeling that I was feeling just less than a week ago before I started this diet. The bellyache is centralized and I noticed that everything that was in my belly was pretty healthy. My body was just responding to my poor sleeping habits. I understand that the vinegar detoxifies and the oil replenishes. So I am breathing better, simply no allergy symptoms at all. My thinking is also clearer. My nails are growing very healthy and strong.

OK, I took a quick break and I enjoyed my soup. My belly feels a lot better, and I think I will be at 100% soon. Thanks for caring about me :) <3

Body Oils

I have been using coconut oil on my skin as a natural replacement for Baby Oil. The coconut oil is derived from coconuts, but Baby Oil (mineral oil) is derived from the leftovers after gasoline is made. Mineral oil dries out the skin and hair and is in essence toxic. So I don't use it for our five children or my own skin. I don't buy it. Instead, I use these products that do not have mineral oil, petrolatum, or petroleum jelly in them:

My favorite body/hair oils sitting on my office desk
Spectrum Organic Coconut Oil (no scent)
Proclaim Natural 7 Oil
African Pride Olive Miracle Growth Oil
African Pride Olive Miracle Moisturizer Lotion and
Africa's Best Ultimate Herbal Oil (which smells like baby oil)

I get them at the Dollar General, Walmart, and Sally's Beauty Supply. The coconut oil is the most expensive, pricing at about $6.50 at Walmart and about $9.50 at Publix. The other oils are $4 and less. I buy all of these oils 3 or 4 at a time when I shop. They really work, and smell great!

Coconut Oil on Hair

I also use the coconut oil for my hair before I blow-dry or flat iron it. I prefer to use a thermal spray along with the coconut oil to protect my hair from heat damage, but when I run out of thermal spray the coconut oil does the job (I just use a lot!). Also, it helps make my straightened hair stay nice and flat for longer periods of time. It feels excellent on the scalp as well.

Virgin Organic Coconut Oil tastes more like coconut, and so if you use it for your skin, you will smell more like coconut. If you like the "fruity" scented lotions, that might also be another alternative, since most lotions (Vaseline, Suave, etc.) have mineral oil or petrolatum in them. The natural stuff simply lasts longer and is excellent for the skin, which is excellent for overall health.

I pray that you have a great day today, and I'm signing out (gotta go take care of the baby now) :) Blessings.

Day 5 of my Coconut Oil and Apple Cider Vinegar Diet

Me last night
(my "progress" picture)
Good morning fellow bloggers! This coconut oil and apple cider vinegar diet is working! I feel like I am cruising straight to my goal of 140 pounds. After a great date night w/hubby we stayed up 'till 4am. I woke up at 9am and my body was refreshed and ready to wake up... after only 5 hours of sleep! I fed my 6 month old and drank my coconut oil and apple cider vinegar with water, and sipped on my tea. Then my energy was at full stride. Again, no joint pain, and again, no appetite. I still haven't eaten (which I should) but I just don't "feel hungry." On top of that, my 8-yr-old son hugged me good morning and said, "Mommy, you're getting back down to your normal size." I said, "yeah, I'm losing the baby fat huh?" Great feeling :)

To digress slightly, I like to rest on the Sabbath (today). I usually do minimal housework and food preparation, and I spend time praying and reading the Bible. All that good stuff. Everyone needs to rest one day a week for sanity lol :) It helps with overall health to rest on the sabbath providing rejuvenation to the cells. The Lord's Sabbath ends at sundown on Day 7. So I clean like a crazy when the sun sets lol :)

I am loving the coconut oil and apple cider vinegar diet! To those first reading, this is the diet I prescribed at the beginning:

1/2 cup of organic coconut oil per day
3 tablespoons of organic apple cider vinegar per day
Some exercise
Anything else I decide to eat

Since I started, it has curbed my appetite so that it zoomed down to zero. I can eat when I want to. Also, I can eat What I want to! I feel like my body is dumping toxins from itself at an accelerated rate as we speak. My close friend is doing the diet. She said this is her Day 3 and she woke up pain free this morning. Glory to God!

Thyroid problems? My Mama actually reported to me that she has been using coconut oil and she has not had any of the usual thyroid problem symptoms that she was having since her doctor diagnosed her with thyroid issues. The coconut oil is said to help with the metabolism and assist the thyroid gland in its processes. I love seeing Mama more energetic and sleeping well at night. Her insomnia seems to be totally gone!

Apple cider vinegar also helps to lower high blood pressure by helping your body clean its own veins and arteries out. My mom who was a diabetic and had heart disease and hypertension, began taking apple cider vinegar daily for a few weeks. For the first time in years, her doctor was shocked at her normal blood pressure reading! As for diabetes, I saw some information that states that cinnamon and chromium can treat diabetes patients naturally.

Here is what my sis said about her coconut oil and apple cider vinegar diet progress today:

Update: Day three of trying out the diet and I have had no morning joint pain! I did not think that my energy levels had improved because I had been up with Israel two nights in a row because of sickness, but John told me this am that he believes I have had more energy because I have been waking up bright and early hitting the ground running despite the little rest that I had the night before. When I thought about it he was right.
What an awesome testimony! For your reading pleasure, I found another book about coconut oil. It states that coconut oil helped to cure Alzheimer's disease!!!

I love this diet and am happy to share my experience with you. I hope you will try it too! God bless!

Day 4 of my Coconut Oil and Apple Cider Vinegar Diet

Good morning fellow bloggers! It is day 4 of my diet and I am ecstatic! I have tons of energy and yesterday I was able to get a lot of things done. I'm surprised at how clearly I am able to think with my body feeling so healthy. I feel like the coconut oil is like a health juice that I have been missing all my life. I'm not even making this up. I think I want to encourage my family to do the coconut oil with me. On Day 2, I shared the link to this diet on my Facebook and one of my friends decided to try it. She gave me permission to share her comment about what happened:

"sooo. did my first round of apple cider and water as well as coconut oil in tea. i am glad to report i have already had normal movement in my bowels which is great because my stomach had been in knots for past couple of days. also, found out today izzy has a virus that has caused mouth ulcers. we are being prescribed a potentially expensive magic mouthwash that can cause issues if swallowed and is not the best for kids under a certain age. after doing some rearch i just found out that coconut oil can be used to heal mouth ulcer."

Wow!!! Coconut oil helps to heal mouth ulcers?!?! What great timing then for us to be starting the coconut oil and apple cider vinegar diet!!! God Is Soooo Good.

To be honest, I can't help the feeling that maybe I should change other things in my diet, because I feel so healthy and don't want to "mess it up". On an empty stomach, with just the tea, the vinegar and water, and the oil, I feel energized.

I took some folic acid last night and that stuff helps a lot. In fact, once while pregnant with my second child, I was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection (UTI), and after reading on a blog that someone took three folic acid pills and it cured her UTI, I tried it too. The first day, my pain was reduced to very mild, and the second day, the pain was gone. This was without any prescription medicine. The follow-up appointment one week later revealed that the UTI was no longer present, and I was officially healed. And all I had done was take 3 pills in the morning, 2 that evening, and 2 the following day. I guess my body was low on that particular nutrient, because it used the abundance of it to heal me from the UTI. Another UTI that I had during my third pregnancy was also healed in the same way. So I recommended folic acid to a close friend of mine who also had a UTI, and she took it the same way I told her. Within a few days, she was healed, without antibiotics. The key is to take a lot of it and help the body heal. Whatever your body doesn't use will simply exit in the urine. It's quite simple, and very helpful!!!

Quick Cure for a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)

Take 3 folic acid pills at once
Take 2 folic acid pills later that day
Then take 2 folic acid pills twice daily until the UTI is healed

Best part is that it is really cheap. Like $4 at the Dollar General. Way cheaper than antibiotics. Try it if you ever need it! Click here to find folic acid online.

Anyhow, I am enjoying this diet and getting ready to eat some chicken noodle soup. Thanks for reading!

Have a wonderful day!!!

Day 3 of my Coconut Oil and Apple Cider Vinegar Diet

Good morning fellow bloggers! Praise God He knew what He was doing when He let mankind figure out how to extract coconut oil and apple cider vinegar! Haha! =) My diet is going amazing, and my hopes are very high. This morning I feel so great. I went ahead and took two more doses of approximately 2 tablespoons of coconut oil yesterday to include one in the afternoon and one before going to sleep.

This morning, I woke up feeling so full of energy! My body is so energized. Not to mention, the "normal" aches and pains that I usually have (knee, hip, joints), I don't feel that stuff this morning. It's like I feel like I'm "springing around" so to speak. What a great feeling. I'm actually boiling my water for my tea now (Vanilla Chai) by the way, I drank about 3 more mug fulls of that tea yesterday. It tastes so good!!! Also, it helps to aide the coconut oil in melting once it gets into my belly, which is important. If I drink it the whole diet, I may have to add the tea into the name of the diet... just a thought.

I feel like the regimen has given me immediate and noticeable health results. I did not workout yesterday, and yet I feel rejuvenated this morning after only 6 hours of sleep. Yesterday, I ate a Heath chocolate bar! I also ate a huge plate of sweet potatoes. I ate a healthy meal for dinner, but as I said, I didn't have a very huge appetite yesterday. The feeling like I "needed to eat something for energy" was nowhere to be found. To top it off, my appetite is still gone, and I don't even feel the urge to sleep more this morning. I feel so good today now that I think I will work out today! I'll report if I did. Also, I did not take the folic acid pill as I had planned to. I stretched the 1/4 cup of coconut oil out over the entire day, taking it in about 2 tablespoons at a time throughout the day.

If you decide to do this diet with me, and you buy a jar of coconut oil (from Walmart or Publix, or a health store) you may find that your coconut oil is solid when you go to get some. Making tea to drink with it gives you something to melt your oil over before you drink it!

I like the Chai with a dopple of milk and sugar. It's Great. I think that as a complement to the diet, the tea helps to curb the appetite also. But make sure that you do eat enough to stay alive... if your appetite is curbed as much as mine, you may not want to eat! Haha!

For your reading pleasure, I found a cool book about just how great coconut oil is:  The Coconut Oil Miracle by Bruce Fife (on Amazon).

Here's to a Great rest of the day! =D

Day 2 of my Coconut Oil and Apple Cider Vinegar Diet

Hello fellow bloggers. Hope you had a great Christmas yesterday :) we did :)

So I woke up this morning after taking the coconut oil and apple cider vinegar regimen before bed last night, and I literally had no appetite. I felt like my body was being cleansed from the inside out, and it feels great!

So I started with the same thing I had last night:

3 tablespoons organic apple cider vinegar with water
2 tablespoons organic coconut oil with apple juice, and I made a hot cup of vanilla chai tea with a dopple of milk and sugar to drink afterward.
Bigelow's Vanilla Chai Tea
(great for a romantic end of the evening with the hubby too ;) )

Along with the "no appetite" feeling, I also feel energetic. I love the feeling! I thought I may have needed some iron supplements but right now I don't think I will. I plan to take a one folic acid vitamin (Dollar General brand) later today to help my recover from all that sugar I ate last night!!! Also, the feeling of "allergy season" is nowhere to be found too. God is good. All this before I even set foot on the elliptical machine for the exercise portion!

Further research suggests that apple cider vinegar and coconut oil are two agents which actually destroy the presence of candida (excess yeast growth) in the body, making weight loss easier, and helping to detoxify the cells. For the best results, I am taking the coconut oil straight, not just cooking with it, to ensure I get the same amount daily and that I don't reduce the effects through reheating it.

Looking forward to a great day!!! Join me! =D

Day 1 of my Coconut Oil and Apple Cider Vinegar Diet

Day 1

Tonight I took 2 tablespoons of coconut oil and 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (organic)
First, I drank the apple cider vinegar mixed with purified water, about 1 cup of water with the mixture, then followed that with a new glass of pure water. Next, I drank the coconut oil then drank apple juice afterward, and then some warm water to ease the transition. Here is the brand I used:

Spectrum Organic Coconut Oil and Apple

I intentionally use the refined oil and the filtered vinegar simply because they have less of a vintage taste to them. The unrefined oil and the unfiltered are said to be "better" because they are more original, but I have never noticed any difference except they are sweeter to the taste.

Needless to say, I am up too late and ready for bed! I ate a huge bowl of ice cream to commemorate the end of my festivities and beginning of a disciplined diet. By the way, this coconut oil also works great on hair for flat-ironing, and as a wholesome replacement for mineral oil on the skin. I love it!

Goodnight, Merry Christmas, and I'll be checking in tomorrow...

Coconut Oil and Apple Cider Vinegar Diet

Today is Christmas Day, December 25, 2012. Now that my baby is 6 months old, I am ready to embark in a serious diet that will help me to reach my goal weight of 140 pounds. I am 30 years old, and I have a few things to do before I can reach that target weight. I need to get a scale that is reliable. I need to measure my waist. My estimated weight is approximately 175 pounds right now, based on the last doctor's visit when my baby was 4 months old. Because I am still actively breastfeeding, I have to use natural diet ideas, nothing harsh to the body, so I chose organic coconut oil, and organic apple cider vinegar.

Today I ate everything I wanted to eat! Half of a sweet potato pie, chicken and rice, pancakes and syrup, eggnog, black-eyed peas and snap peas, potatoes and green beans, and even a deviled egg!!! I am SO full. But I am going to start my diet today, and my goal is to see some fast results over the next 4 months!

My diet will consist of:

1/2 cup of organic coconut oil per day
3 tablespoons of organic apple cider vinegar per day
Some exercise
Anything else I decide to eat.

I am interested in finding out if coconut oil and apple cider vinegar added to someone's diet really does help them maintain a healthy weight. I heard that the island girls in Hawaii and the Philippines had coconut oil in their regular diets, and that it did help them stay slim. I'm not sure if that holds any water at all, but since I am half-Filipina I like the fable and it encourages me (haha).

Daily, I will try to keep a log of what I did, and check the results each week on Wednesday (since I will be starting tonight). If I add any other regimens to my diet, I will mention them in my posts. Wish me the best!
